Seriously this game is fun. I know its not in the same league as the WWE games but I consider it to be amazing. There was the disappointment that there's no 6 sides of steel in it because i would of liked to bash Jeff Jarets head all over but i got to smash him with the chairs repeatedly so that was fun. Ultimate X is also really fun. You gotta climb across the ropes avoiding the guy jumping up at you below. Then when you get to the X you have a meter to fill by pushing a button at the right time. its like a swinging arrow and you have to press the button in the green square. It gets fasters every time you get it right though. You have to download Petey Williams Story mode is fun although CAW is restricted and nothing like SD vs Raw it is still funky. Jeff Jaret was ridiculously hard as the last match and it took me 10 goes to beat him. (i'm not a push over on the wrestling games either so watch out). Also it takes a short while to get used to the buttons because of SD v Raw but 2-3 matches and you should have it down. As AJ Styles said. It will be easy to complete but hard to master and thats exactly how it is. I think its fun. Give it a try. Very... Arcady.

Omega's Review ==================
In my opinion, TNA iMPACT! has been a better wrestling program for the past couple years, easily matching WWE's angles in quality, and far surpassing their matches. However, despite the fact that WWE now has valid competition, for the past ten years, it hasn't had any in the gaming world. That all changed on September 9th, 2008 when Midway released the first TNA video game ever: TNA iMPACT!
Gameplay: 9
This is likely the truest statement I've ever made when I say that I have never had more fun playing a basic 1 on 1 match than I have in TNA iMPACT! The contrast between this and the WWE games is very noticeable, in both controls and pacing. The controls are with the face buttons on the controller, and you can toggle various grappes and punches with towards/away motions, and the strong modifer, but it all feels natural enough. And the match is quick paced, just like TNA programming tends to be. That's a lot of why wrestlers get to their feet rather quickly on most occasions. However, that makes leg-drops off the top rope annoying to pull off, and that's part of what makes the gameplay a 9, as opposed to a 10.
Another reason as to why gameplay doesn't get a ten is because the movesets aren't that different. Don't get me wrong, there are some wrestlers that have a distinct feel to them. Kurt Angle is a fast technician, just like in real life, and AJ Styles does some crazy flippy-stuff, just like he does in real life. But there are some wrestlers who has the same basic suplexes and what not. Aside from their finisher, there isn't much that makes LAX unique. And while it isn't a huge issue, being as the gameplay is fun as all hell, it is still kinda weird to see many wrestlers doing the same move when I could literally create 19 movesets in SvR '07 without using any grapple move more than once.
Story: 5
The story was rather lackluster primarily because, once again in huge contrast with the WWE games, the Story isn't a series of various angles, or even one overarching angle. As a matter of fact, the story in TNA iMPACT! would be an entirely plausible situation that would never see a television screen. I won't spoil anythong for anyone, but let's just say it's more of an out-of-character locker room conflict that gets blown up.
And this complaint is more directed towards the gameplay, as opposed to the story, but if it weren't for the story, I would have never used this match. In TNA iMPACT, Tag Team matches aren't fun. They just aren't. And for about a quarter of the story, you're teamed with Eric Young fighting everyone you can think of. In Tag Team matches, everything is a wild card. One of the things that annoyed me about Tag Team matches in the Smackdown games was that every time you went for a pin or submission, your opponents partner went to break it up. I always thought to myself "The illegal partner only SOMETIMES breaks up the pin in real wrestling, so why don't they only have them try to come out SOMETIMES?"
I was wrong. Having random odds at having the illegal member try to break up a pin is the worst thing that has happened to Tag Team matches since... well... anything. There were times where I'd hit my finisher, and the opponent would break up the pin. Meanwhile, seconds later, my opponent would hit his finisher, and pin me. Meanwhile, Eric Young does nothing to help, even though the pin is literally INCHES away from his foot.
Oh yeah, by the way. There are no rope breaks, count-outs, or DQs in any match in TNA iMPACT, and that is a bit of a concern. Point is, tag team matches suck in this game.
Graphics: 9
Top Notch Graphics here. The models all look amazing, and even the one short appearance of Christy Hemme looked realistic to a surprisingly high extent. Plus, in each game, there are a lot of created wrestlers. There's the 1-5 that you make yourself, plus about 10 created ones in the story mode. And each and every one looks real.
AI: 6
The AI can be smart. For example, once, when I was dazed and unable to get up, and my opponent was really weakened, he went out to snag himself a weapon, and even the odds a bit. However, it got to the point where opponents would reverse me WAY too much. There was a chain of reversals going on once, where i was so psyched that I got off three reversals in a chain, and then he reversed it. Seriously. I started with an attack, he reversed, then we reversed each other three times, then he reversed me. That's FIVE reversals on my opponents part! Too Much! But aside from that, there's nothing too impressive, or terrible here. But they also knew to keep their distance when I had a finisher, and pursued me quite a bit when they had theirs.
Online Play: 5 The online has too much lag. Nuff Said.
Overall Score: 8
And here's my attempt to justify the final score:
Here's the thing about TNA iMPACT! It's a good game that is a LOT of fun to play. But it's just missing everything it needs to jump from a good game to an amazing game that could compete with the Smackdown vs. Raw series.
Let me list some features that were in the ORIGINAL WWF Smackdown! game that are absent in TNA.
- The ability to fight backstage. - A weapon that isn't a chair. - Character specific taunts - A story mode that isn't specific to any wrestler, created or otherwise - Tag Team Entrances
These are five things that are so second nature to fans of wrestling games that their absence just doesn't seem to make sense. Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 is the tenth installment in the Smackdown series, and ever since the beginning, it's done things that TNA doesn't. The Falls Count Anywhere matches in Smackdown were tons of fun. I loved bashing people with Big Boss Man's guitar. Doing the D-X taunt with X-pac was full of juvinelle fun back when I was 9. Playing a story are the Rock, or my created wrestler was just awesome. And watching Team 3D come out separately in the TNA Game just doesn't match up to watching the Dudley Boys come out together in the Smackdown game, even with the graphical advantage TNA has.
And in the Smackdown Series, they've added millions of features, match types, and EVERYTHING. Hell, SvR 09 is going to have CREATE A FINISHER! Meanwhile, in TNA, you can't even preview what the move will look like before you assign it to your wrestler!
Now, I know with this comparison, it sounds like TNA is a bad game. But it isn't. The features that it lacks aren't NECESSARY to a wrestling game, it's just decor. Does the Smackdown Series still have the advantage? Yes, just because of all the things I can do in that game. But TNA iMPACT! outpreforms the Smackdown series in the best way it could: with it's matches.
And isn't that what wrestling's all about?

I've just made Jeff Jarret's entire body in the red, and then made him tap out.
Shut up, world. Just shut up.

Um, Imeant his head, arms, legs, and torso. On top of that, Jeff Jarret is probably the best AI-controlled character in the game, based on how often he reverses. Seriously.

I love how in the credits Jaret says:
"I'm Jeff Jaret, and I better kick butt in this game"

Jake: The online can lag sometimes, but other times it runs smooth as everything. It's almost random, actually.
Warrior: I'll take that challenge.
