First off i'd like to say wow! It's been a long time since nobody wrote here. I still remember the days when this board was very active, people would be discussing this and that, and now practically nobody writes here. I remember when i was trying to write a column about wrestling and making it a regular thing...it never came to that and i wrote nothing more than 3 articles or maybe they were 4...
I also said a long time ago that i would never watch anything related to the WWE. I failed to keep that promise since i've been watching some matches from the past and i watch very few from the present day WWE. Sorry but there's not enough money to spend on DVD's of other companies, like SHIMMER, for example.
I diverge.
Now let me talk about something important in my view.
As most of you might have guessed so far, i've been here for more than 2 and a half years so it's not that dificult for the veterans here, i'm a huge Tommy Dreamer fan. Not only because of his skills, not only because of his past as an ECW wrestler, but also because of his atitude towards wrestling. It's extremely rare in these days to see someone say that they don't want any titles and to see someone willing to job and to help younger wrestlers learn and polish their skills. In this area you can tell that Dreamer learned well what Terry Funk taught him. He doesn't play politics, doesn't screw everybody around and takes the time to speak with the fans and sign some autographs.
Dreamer is a true, blue company man, and i respect him alot for that aswell.
As most of you might know, on the last ECW event Tommy Said he would retire if he doesn't win the belt by June 6th. The ONS event is the June 7th according to what i've read. So you know something is going to happen. But what?
I'm happy to hear that he's retiring, because you have to know that that is going to happen, he's had his highlights, and he developed enough people already. 19 years is a very long time for one person to have been wrestling and he doesn't have much more left in the tank. I'm going to talk about 2 possibilities that i would like to see happening:
1- Tommy winning the belt and defending it straight until the ONS PPV, afterwich he retires, leaving the title vacated for a tournament to be held at the next ECW shows.
2. Tommy winning the belt right before the ONS PPV, defending the belt at the event, and then retire after his one defense.
It's nice to see Tommy having some air time that doesn't involve him being a jobber to younger guys. And it's good to see that he's getting a push for all that he's done for the WWE and i really hope that they give him the belt and let him retire with dignity.
I pray that WWE doesn't screw this storyline, but i should know already that that won't work lol.
Let me know what you guys think about this.
On a couple of sidenotes:
- Stone Cold will be inducted in the Hall of Fame. I'm happy for him because he deserves it for everything that he's done for the company. He was their saviour in the Monday Night wars.
- I really hope the Funks get inducted this year because it would be a true shame if they don't get that kind of honour. Stone Cold gets inducted but the Funks dont? That would be an injustice! At the same time it would be fitting if Tommy would induct Terry, with him being his mentor and all that, and it could fit with the push.
